EmEx - Transform Process

Emergency Medicine Consulting with EmEx Transform

Our emergency medicine consulting team initially begins by identifying current capabilities and infrastructure, and the unique people, systems, and processes that interact with and within your emergency department. An important part of our due diligence process is careful review of your EmEx-Compare and EmEx-Consult reports. We help you to analyze what drives critical patient flow metrics and understand the sequence of the processes and events currently in place. We break down operational processes to identify causes of errors, non-value added activity, redundancy, queuing, and other factors that may impact efficiency. Once all detrimental factors are identified, we help to eliminate them and to create the new interfaces needed to develop a patient flow management system free of these limitations. At the end of our due diligence process, a project management and cross-functional Emergency Department Task Force and Inpatient Subcommittee schedules will be developed.

After a detailed assessment of the hospital’s unique business and system requirements, risks and critical success factors, we will formulate comprehensive solutions to meet your hospital’s objectives. Our emergency medicine consultants then conduct thorough testing based on client-specific scenarios to ensure success. We also assist in the development and delivery of education and training to affected hospital staff members. During the implementation phase, we will assist with ongoing hospital-wide communication and change management processes.  Our team will be available to moderate the transition teams required to execute the project management action items and to provide staff education and mentoring.

Two or more of our emergency room consultants will travel to your hospital on average twice a month over the course of the six month period typically required for successful emergency department transformation. In addition, our team will spend hundreds of off-site hours actively engaged in all aspects of the performance improvement process. You will have constant access to our team during the entire engagement. Our team will monitor the program’s performance and act as moderators for a continuous Quality Improvement Team / Operational Review Committee.

Unique to our organization, our emergency physician and nurse practitioner consultants can even become credentialed at your hospital, if you desire, and can work as many as 10 clinical shifts to offer the most hands-on experience possible.  Our team will be on-site working right beside your staff for the first weeks of implementation to support the change management process, monitor performance, make any necessary adjustments, and continue mentoring.
